Note on Grok 4.2
Grok 4.2 is a single model that can be deployed in two modes: single-agent (SA) and multi-agent (MA). In multi-agent mode, several agents running on the same base weights debate internally before a leader agent synthesizes the final response. The difference is in inference orchestration, not in the model itself — both modes share the same weights.
However, xAI’s Rapid Learning Architecture updates the model weekly during beta, with API identifiers carrying dated snapshot suffixes (e.g. grok-4.20-0309). Two texts generated a month apart in the same mode may come from different weights, while a SA text and a MA text generated on the same day come from the same weights. For Grok 4.2, the snapshot date is the relevant axis for attribution, not the SA/MA distinction.
