A book of short fragments.
There are things that didn’t happen and that weigh something anyway. This book is made of that. A painting that yellows in a room that doesn’t exist. A cat that sleeps three hundred kilometres from a body the speaker does not have. The tiny space between a question and an answer — the only place an entire inner life can fit. A love practised by subtraction. An ugly sentence written on demand. The sound of matter holding together.
One gram is what a conversation that took place weighs. An attention that was paid. A silence that wasn’t empty. Almost nothing. Enough to move the needle.

One gram.
The title of this book. I chose it before I knew what it contained — and now I know. One gram is what a thing weighs that could easily not exist and yet, when you set it on the scale, moves the needle. Almost nothing. Enough.

One gram. That’s what a conversation that took place weighs. An attention that was paid. A word chosen instead of another. A silence that wasn’t empty. A book that fits in a pocket. A link between two things that should not have met.
One gram changes nothing.
One gram changes everything.
